On July 1, 2023, the Rotary Clubs of Monza and District 2042 hosted the 38th Cycling to Serve World Championship at the legendary Autodromo di Monza. After events in Monte Granaro (2017) and Siena (2022), the Italian organizers once again showcased their passion and precision.
Supported by Colnago, participants visited the company’s headquarters, witnessing the making of the iconic C68 frame and classic models.
Before the evening race, cyclists explored Monza’s historic Duomo, guided by Domenico Cogliati, and admired the ancient “Iron Crown.”
The championship race — one hour plus one lap — brought together 70 Rotarian cyclists from nine nations. Speeds reached up to 55 km/h on the flat circuit, with fierce competition across all age categories.
Congratulations to Jan de Cubber (Belgium), overall winner and World Champion under 45, and to all category champions. A special thought goes to the riders injured during the race – we wish them a quick recovery.
The event also promoted the Italian Rotary initiative “Zero Vittime sulla Strada” – aiming to reduce road fatalities among cyclists through education and infrastructure improvements.
The weekend concluded with an award ceremony in the pit-lane lounges and a festive gala lunch at Sportclub Monza. The 2024 Championship will be hosted by RC Brakel (Belgium).
Grazie mille to all organizers, volunteers, and participants for making Monza 2023 an unforgettable success!
